About Fauji Wheels
What this tool does, where its figures come from, and the one rule its data follows.
Fauji Wheels works out what a car from the CSD price list will actually cost you on the road — not the depot price, but the full figure once road tax, registration, insurance, FASTag and the other charges are added. It also helps you decide whether you can comfortably afford it, and lets you compare cars side by side or search by the features you want.
It is free, it always will be, and it is built by a retired officer for the defence community.
What it covers
- 640 variants across 11 brands, from the July 2026 CSD price list, updated September 2026 with the Tata Sierra launch and Safari petrol variants.
- On-road cost — CSD price, state road tax (including Bharat Series), registration, insurance, FASTag, TCS and depot charges.
- Affordability — EMI against your take-home pay, and the true monthly cost once fuel, insurance and servicing are counted in.
- Running cost — blended city and highway mileage, and a petrol vs diesel vs CNG comparison that tells you how many kilometres it takes to recover a diesel car's higher price.
- Eligibility — the current CSD car entitlement by pay level, with every car marked as within or over your limit (the limit is on the price before GST, and the tool does that arithmetic for you).
- Posting planner — BH series against normal registration across your likely postings, and the cost of owning the car until your next CSD purchase.
- Find by Feature — search 556 of the 640 variants by sunroof, ADAS, ventilated seats, 360° camera, seating and more.
- A printable report you can take to the depot or show at home.
Where the figures come from
- Prices — the July 2026 CSD price list, read directly from the published sheet — updated September 2026 with the Tata Sierra launch and Safari petrol variants.
- Road tax — each state's own schedule, as slabs with fuel multipliers, cess and caps. Bharat Series follows MoRTH Rule 51B, computed on the invoice price excluding GST.
- GST — the rates notified from 22 September 2025: 18% for small cars, 40% for larger ones, 5% for EVs, with compensation cess abolished. A CSD price carries only half of that (CSD gets 50% of the GST refunded), so 9%, 20% and 2.5% is what the tool backs out of it for the Bharat Series base and the entitlement check.
- Insurance — calibrated against real quotes, using street rates for own damage and the notified three-year single premium for third party. It is an estimate, not a quotation.
- Features — read from each manufacturer's own brochure, variant by variant.
The one rule the feature data follows
The same honesty applies to what is missing. The tool tells you exactly which models it cannot search and why — whether the brochure has not been read, could not be obtained, or simply does not line up with the names the CSD price list uses.
Updates
The CSD price list changes periodically and this site is refreshed when it does. The data date is shown in the header of every page and in the printed report, so you can always tell how current the figures you are looking at really are.
Why it exists
Working out the real cost of a CSD car normally means several showroom visits, a lot of half-answers about road tax, and an insurance quote you cannot check. All of that information is public, it is just scattered. This puts it in one place so you can do the homework at home and walk into a dealership already knowing what you are paying for.
